This Little Light of Mine

At church tonight, we started a study about sharing your faith. It reminded me of something that happened a few weeks ago. I got a little frustrated - with God. And I think that's okay. I don't think He minds. Sometimes, I look up to heaven, and He seems so silent, so distant... I mean, I know that He is real, He exists, He is who He says He is - it's just that sometimes it would be so nice to just actually see or hear something tangible, you know? Sometimes, I just wish He would come down from heaven and just lay it all out for the whole world to see - end the debates, just fill the world with His presence, so everyone will know Him.

And so, I prayed, and asked Him why He couldn't just do that. And then some verses came to mind - I could almost hear Jesus saying them...

"You are the light of the world."

"You are the salt of the earth."

He uses us, His children - to fill the world with His presence, and to let the whole world know - who He is, and what He has done - for us all.

What an honor and privelege and great blessing He has given us - to be the instrument through which He shines His light into a dark world.

Jesus, please forgive me for the times that I have been silent. Help me to be ready, everyday, to share my faith with whoever you place in my path.

Shine, Jesus, Shine.

As we gaze on Your kingly brightness,
So our faces display Your likeness,
Ever changing from glory to glory,
Mirrored here, may our lives tell Your story;
Shine on me.
Shine on me.
Shine, Jesus, shine, fill this land with the Father's glory;
Blaze, Spirit, blaze, set our hearts on fire.
Flow, river, flow, flood the nations with grace and mercy;
Send forth Your Word, Lord, and let there be light.
